Fighting, Partying Lead to Underage Alcohol Citations

Two groups of teens were cited for underage alcohol consumption, among other charges, in Port Washington last week.

Two groups of teens were cited for underage drinking last week after some not-so-sober behavior, police reported.

The first incident, around 10 p.m. June 25 in the 400 block of Landolt Street, was broken up after police were tipped aboout a group of teens drinking in plain sight - in a front yard.

A total of seven people between 20 and 16 years old, most of whom are from Port, were cited for underage alcohol. One was also slapped with possession of drug paraphernalia, and another with adult permission of illegal alcohol consumption.

Another round of underage alcohol citations came late June 26 after a fight in the area of Powers and Woodruff streets. According to a police official, the fight was sparked by an issue with an ex-girlfriend of one subject.

The five subjects involved in this incident, aged between 18 and 16, were cited on various charges including underage alcohol, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia and curfew violations.
