Fire Destroys Car, Carport Near Downtown Port

Port Washington Fire Chief Mark Mitchell says there was nothing suspicious about the fire, according to the Ozaukee Press.

The Port Washington Fire Department responded to a fire at 222 W. Jackson St. at about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, the Ozaukee Press reports.

The fire destroyed a car and a carport, though no injuries were reported.

Port Washington Fire Chief Mark Mitchell told the Ozaukee Press that firefighters were able to control the flames after a matter of about five minutes, but they remained on scene for about an hour-and-a-half to ensure debris did not re-ingite the fire.
