Firecrackers in Fire Pit Spark Call to Police

Port Washington officers responded to the 300 block of East Whitefish Road after a call about fireworks going off.

If you had a handful of old fireworks — what would you do with them? This 76-year-old Port Washington man thought he'd throw them in the fire.

Police responded to the 300 block of East Whitefish Road, Port, after a call came into the department about the fireworks going off at 8:17 p.m. July 28, according to police reports. 

The man said he had a small amount of very old firecrackers and threw them into a small campfire.
