Hey Neighbors: Shovel Your Sidewalks

Several Port Washington residents as well as a business and a church have left recent snow unshoveled — and their neighbors are noticing.

Port Washington police responded to four calls between March 3 and 4 and an additional complaint of unshoveled walks on March 8.

According to the police reports:

• 9:27 a.m. March 3: An unidentified person reported sidewalks where the snow was not removed, in the 300 block of Parkway Court. The 52-year-old Port woman was spoken to and had this issue taken care of immediately as there is pending snow in the forecast. 
• 9:35 a.m. March 4: Complaint received of unshoveled sidewalks in the 400 block of West Foster Street. This is a foreclosed property, so contact was made with Safeguard, the property managers. A request was made to take care of the matter. 
• 11:02 a.m. March 4: Complaint received from City Hall of unshoveled sidewalks at the west parking lot at Friedens Church, 454 N. Milwaukee St.  Contact was made with the property maintenance person, who advised he would have Nate’s Landscaping remove this snow after the next snowfall on March 5.
• 5:43 p.m. March 4: Complaint of sidewalks not shoveled in the 200 block of North Spring Street.  A snow removal notice was left on the vehicle at the residence. A removal notice had already been left March 1 at a residence in this same block.
• 6:48 a.m. Friday: Employees were spoken to at Sweetheart Cakes, 620 W. Grand Ave., after they had been warned several times to have their sidewalks cleared the previous day, and they still are not. They advised salt has been put down and the owner would be in shortly.  Upon checking back the sidewalks were cleared.
