Jar of Marijuana, Open Containers Lead to Citations, Possible Charges for Teens

The three 19-year-old Ozaukee County teens face a variety of citations and charges, from underage drinking to drug possession.

Three 19-year-old Ozaukee County men face municipal citations and possible criminal charges after being found with open containers of alcohol and marijuana in their vehicle in the Walmart parking lot.

The three teens, two from Belgium and one from Cedar Grove, were observed in the Walmart parking lot as police observed the area while crowds arrived on the Ozaukee County Express bus that offers rides to and from Summerfest grounds at 1:30 a.m. June 30, according to reports. The men were standing outside a vehicle, and one man grabbed a can from behind the wheel and took a drink.

Police made their way toward the vehicle and made contact with the men, all now getting into the car, according to reports. Officers observed a multi-colored glass pipe on the center console — something commonly used to smoke marijuana — in plain sight.

One of the Belgium teens admitted it belonged to him. Police did a search of the vehicle and found 3 cans of Milwaukee’s Best Light beer, a bottle of Smirnoff Vodka and an empty bottle of Jaegermeister liquor, as well as a glass mason jar approximately ¼ full of a green, leafy substance recognized as marijuana, the report said.

The two Belgium teens were issued citations after preliminary breath tests showed a blood alcohol content of .1 and .147. Recommendations for charges of possession of drug paraphernalia were also sent to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office against one of those teens.
