Lions Club Sets Brats Ablaze for Saukville Fire Department

The Saukville Lion's Club is hosting a brat fry on April 30 to raise money for the purchase of a new thermal camera.

In an effort to raise funds for a new thermal imaging camera for the , the Saukville Lions Club will be hosting a Welcome Summer Brat Fry on April 30.

A thermal imaging camera is an important piece of equipment to have on hand, said Fire Chief Gilly Schultz. The device allows firefighters to see through walls and smoke to locate hot spots within a fire and even people that may be trapped inside the blaze.

Although the department currently has one of these high-tech cameras, Schultz pointed out that after 12 years, technology has advanced and an upgrade is in order.

With just over $1,000 raised through various donations, the Lions Club decided to step in to aid in the purchase of the camera — an item that can cost up to $12,000, according to Lions Club member and Village Trustee Mike Krocka.

The Lions Club has actively raised money for the department in the past, receiving donations for cameras to be placed on the rigs and for jackets and helmets for the firefighters.
