Man Accused of Stealing His Grandma's Debit Card

Suspect allegedly bought $1,700 worth of goods with the stolen card.

A 21-year-old Port Washington man is facing charges after he allegedly stole his grandmother’s debit card and used it to make fraudulent purchases.

Jacob B. Blumenberg, 1884 Terrace Dr., was charged in Ozaukee County Circuit Court on Dec. 16 with five counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. If convicted, he could serve nearly four years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Dec. 5, the victim contacted police after she noticed five fraudulent purchases made with her debit card, which totaled $687 and a total unauthorized use of $1,773 with the card. The charges were made between Nov. 27 and Dec. 1 at area businesses.

Blumenberg initially denied taking the card, but later admitted to taking it out of the victim’s purse and using it 10 times.

He’s currently free on a $1,000 signature bond while awaiting his next court date, set for 1:15 p.m. Jan. 18.
