Meet Port's Newest Police Officer: James Russell

James Russell, formerly a Washington County Sheriff's Office deputy, was sworn in as Port Washington's newest police officer Monday.

"We picked James Russell because he is the most qualified candidate, and we're very proud at the police department to have him," Police Chief Kevin Hingiss said Monday at Russell's swearing-in ceremony.

After taking the oath of office, read by City Administrator Mark Grams, Russell had his badge pinned to his chest by his father.

James T. Russell, 47, of Kewaskum has joined the Port Washington Police Department as a police officer. James is married to Theresa, and they have two sons.

Jim graduated with high honors, from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 2010 with an Associate Degree in criminal justice. He also is a graduate of MATC’s Law Enforcement Academy. He received the Lamp of Knowledge Award for law enforcement program academic excellence and service to others.

Jim has been working part-time at Washington County Sheriff’s Office as a sworn special deputy sheriff and also at Wisconsin State Fair Park, as a police officer.
