Milwaukee Jail Inmate Charged in Saukville Burglaries

Suspect allegedly broke into businesses in Saukville and Mequon while driving a Huber Jail van to take inmates to Fredonia.

A 44-year-old Milwaukee man is facing charges after he allegedly burglarized multiple Saukville and Mequon businesses while driving a Milwaukee County Huber jail transport van.

Kim N. Brown was charged in Ozaukee County Circuit Court on Wednesday with eight counts of burglary. If convicted, he faces up to 100 years in prison and $200,000 in fines.

On June 17, Saukville police officers were called to Conservancy Court near the 600 block of Green Bay Avenue after a security officer spotted a man breaking into the US Cellular/Camera Case building on a security camera. When officers arrived, they found Lakeshore Eye Care Clinic, of Saukville, and a chiropractic clinic nearby were also burglarized with some of the businesses reported cash missing.

On June 24, Dark Side Tan in Mequon was also broken into and on July 15, Signature Auto Detailing and Picardy Shoe Parlor were also burglarized.

Brown was being held in the Milwaukee Huber jail and as part of his privileges he drove a transport van to take inmates to their jobs. On the days in question, he had taken inmates to Fredonia and when investigators checked a GPS unit inside the van they discovered Brown drove it to all of the businesses at the times they were burglarized.

Brown is currently out of custody and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
