Officials Make Change to Ozaukee County Med Drop Program

Only prescription drugs will now be allowed in the drop boxes.

Over-the-counter medications left in seven drop boxes throughout Ozaukee County have overwhelmed law enforcement, causing county officials to limit the dropoffs allowed, according to a press release from the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department.

"The amount of over the counter medications and the packaging
placed into the Med-Return Units has taxed law enforcement
resources beyond initial expectations," the release said. "Due to the amount of resources needed to manage the disposal of the over the counter medications and other substances the Med-Return Units will now be restricted to prescription medications only."
