PD: Teen Makes Marijuana Sale on 4/20, Facing Charges

A neighbor saw the 17-year-old Port Washington resident make the sale outdoors, adding that he even saw the group roll a joint.

A 17-year-old Port Washington man faces charges for a marijuana sale made on 4/20 — a number many associate with the drug.

Dennis Do was charged Monday in Ozaukee County Circuit Court with one count of manufacturing THC and a second count of possession with intent to deliver near a school, and faces 21 years in prison as well as $35,000 in fines. The potential penalties are higher than usual because the sale was made within 1,000 feet of a school; Do could also lose his driving priveleges for up to 10 years.

A Port Washington resident called police on Saturday after noticing occupants of a white Ford Ranger purchasing drugs from two men in the 500 block of Catalpa Street, according to the criminal complaint. The resident said he saw the vehicle's occupants actually roll a joint and hand Do and a 16-year-old Port resident money.

Police responded to the area and noticed the two teens still outside. The 16-year-old had been smoking a cigarette and appeared nervous upon seeing police, putting it out, the complaint said. Do also appeared nervous.

The 16-year-old denied having cigarettes, but the officer noticed a bulge in his pants and eventually determined his pocket contained both cigarettes and a baggy of marijuana — weighing 12.8 grams, the complaint said. The 16-year-old also had $616 in his pocket.

Officers found that Do was also carrying a baggy of marijuana, weighing 9.8 grams, the complaint said. Officers eventually tracked down the occupants of the white Ford Ranger, who admitted to buying marijuana but said they purchased it from the 16-year-old.

Do will appear in court at 9:45 a.m. May 7 for a preliminary hearing.
