PD: Suspicious Package Prompts Call to Police

A roundup of recent activity from the police blotter also includes a resident who was scammed on eBay, and a stolen purse — that was later returned, with items missing.

Sometimes it's nice to get surprises, but not when those incidents are accompanied with an eerie ounce of suspicision.

A 26-year-old Port Washington resident of the 1100 block of West Portview Drive called police at 1:19 p.m. Thursday. According to police reports, the resident said an unmarked package had been dropped off at his residence.

Eventually someone contacted the resident while he was at work, the report said. From that call he learned that the box belonged to a former tenant of this residence.

The package was delivered to its rightful owner, who wasn't creeped out by it at all — police reports said the former tenant claimed the package.
