PD: Undercover Sting Snags Saukville Marijuana Dealer

The 39-year-old Saukville man sold marijuana to the undercover officer several times in late 2012.

A Saukville man who sold marijuana to an undercover officer on multiple occasions was charged in Ozaukee County Court this week.

John Slaton, 39, faces two felony counts of manufacturing and delivering THC near a school, and two additional counts of manufacturing and delivering THC; he also faces eight counts of felony bail jumping. In total, he's facing 72 years in prison, $120,000 in fines and could lose his driving privileges for a total of 20 years.

The first drug exchange took place on Oct. 29, when an undercover officer made arrangements to purchase marijuana from Slaton outside Sundance Tavern, according to the criminal complaint. The two exchanged $50 for 3.6 grams of what later positively tested for the presence of THC.

On Nov. 2, an exchange took place near 226 Hales Trail, again $50 for 3.6 grams, according to the complaint. On Dec. 3, the undercover officer again met Slaton in the Sundance Tavern parking lot and exchanged $60 for 3.2 grams. Lastly, on Dec. 7, the two met and exchanged $120 for 6.7 grams of marijuana.

Sundance Tavern is located within 1000 feet of St. Mary's Catholic School, which increases the penalties associated with the charges by 5 years in prison.

Slaton had been charged with several felony charges of posession of THC as well as a second offense OWI in August, but before that had stayed out of Ozaukee County criminal court since 2010 β€” when he also possession of drug paraphernalia as well as disorderly conduct and battery charges.

Slaton is set to appear in court at 10:30 a.m. March 11 for a status hearing.
