Police Officers Recognized For Years of Service
The Port Washington Police Department Thanks Officers For Their Years In Uniform
The is recognizing two officers for their years of service with the city. Officer Matt Keller has been with the PWPD for 15 years, while Officer Thomas Kajtna has 20 years of service under his belt.
“Both are fantastic employees and we like to recognize that,” said Police Chief Kevin Hingiss.
The PWPD created an awards committee in 2005, which recognizes officers and other employees for their milestones and accomplishments. Depending on the years of service, recipients are awarded a gift certificate from a variety of local business. It's a way for the PWPD to say thank you for the hard work and service accomplished by its employees.

Chief Hingiss noted that each officer recognized contributes to important aspects of the force. Officer Keller is in charge of the evidence room — an important job, since every item is carefully categorized.
"Certain standards have to be met, he takes care of it. When it's audited, he makes sure it passes inspection," Hingiss said.
