Man Charged with Taking Another Man's Wallet Outside Bar
Suspect tells victim, "I'm a veteran," and refuses to give back a wallet the victim had given him as a sign of "good faith" that he wouldn't do anything to a woman he was waiting with outside of a Port Washington bar.
A 30-year-old Port Washington man is facing felony charges after he allegedly took another man’s wallet who had initially given it to him in order to make sure he didn't do anything to a woman he was picking up from a tavern.
Brett E. Waning was charged in Ozaukee County Circuit Court on Thursday with one count of robbery with a threat of force and one count of second-degree reckless endangerment. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison and $75,000 in fines.

Waning and the victim had been at late Wednesday and early Thursday morning when Waning went to get his SUV to give a ride to a woman who was at the bar. The victim waited with the woman while Waning got his SUV and gave Waning his wallet as a sign of "good faith" that he wouldn’t do anything to the woman.
When Waning returned, the man asked for his wallet back but Waning refused. Waning then head butted the victim and held a knife to his throat and said "I’m a veteran" before leaving with the wallet.

The man called police, who found the wallet sitting on the dashboard of Waning’s SUV at his residence in the 100 block of North Maple Street.
A court date has not yet been scheduled.
