'Reverse Trick or Treating' Draws Cops' Attention

It wasn’t Casper the Friendly Ghost that neighbors reported Friday night in the area of Hales Trail and Sunrise Drive.

Port Washington Police received a report around 9 p.m. Friday night that eight to 10 males and females, wearing all black and carrying sticks, were walking through backyards and running away when lights came on in the area of Hales Trail and Sunrise Drive.

Police determined that the group was “booing” homes in the area: ringing doorbells and leaving candy on the porch for the Halloween season.

No mention was made in the report if neighbors appreciated the reverse trick-or-treat.

Teens Trespassing: Two teens found at a residence in the area of North Crowns Street at 2:20 p.m. Saturday face citiations and charges for trespassing and possession of drugs and alcohol.

According to police reports, after neighbors reported people entering the unoccupied residence, police found two trespassers: an 18-year-old Port Washington man, who was cited for possession of an intoxicant; and a 15-year-old Port Washington girl, who was referred to juvenile court for the charge of criminal trespass to dwelling.

Additionally, state charges were requested for the 18-year-old for trespassing and possession of THC and drug paraphernalia.

Bad Driving: Following a call to police on Oct. 8, at 8:14 a.m., a driver was cited for failure to yield right-of-way to pedestrian/bicyclist in a crosswalk after a Port Washington man reported she almost struck him while he was on his bicycle in the area of Theis Lane and James Drive.

Citations for disorderly conduct with motor vehicle were issued to two Saukville males, 18 and 17, after an off-duty officer observed both subjects squealing tires and rapidly accelerating out of the parking lot at First Congregational Church at 9:17 p.m. Oct. 8

Solicitation without permit: A citation for solicitation without a permit was issued to the field manager of Universal Direct after a complaint was received at 5:13 p.m. Oct. 8 that a male subject in the 600 block of North Milwaukee Street had rung the front doorbell to a residence and then walked around to the back of the residence.

Property damage: An officer came upon an evergreen located on the north side of the police department parking lot, 365 N. Wisconsin St., that had been removed by an unknown subject Wednesday sometime before 3 a.m. It was placed back in its original position.

Vandalism: A Port Washington man reported Thursday at 2:20 p.m. that someone had damaged a Romney/Ryan campaign sign displayed in his front yard in the 300 block of North Milwaukee Street. A porch bench was also turned over but no damage was observed. There are no suspects at this time.

In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
