Port Police Report: 6-Year-Old Gets Mad at Grandma, Calls 911

A roundup of activity from the latest police blotter.

Maybe she just didn't bring enough candy, but something about his grandmother's visit really irked this 6-year-old Port Washington boy.

Police received a 911 hangup call at 9:04 p.m. Friday from the 200 block of North Park Street. In speaking with his 43-year-old mother, it was found that he had dialed 911 because of his grandma.

She would not leave, and that apparently made him mad.

  • Dude, wrong number: Some people just don't understand, and then they get angry. A 32-year-old Port Washington woman called police at 7:14 a.m. Friday to report a number of unwanted calls and text messages from someone she did not know. Every time she told the person on the other end about that he had the wrong number, he became verbally aggressive. How is he going to react when he finally gets the number right?
  • Salesmen in the making? Persistence can pay off for any good sales person, something area Boy Scouts were apparently putting into practice at 8:45 p.m. Friday. An 86-year-old Port Washington woman in the 200 block of Roger Street called police because someone was repeatedly ringing her doorbell. It turns out they were Boy Scouts trying to sell popcorn.
