Port Police Report: Mysterious Voices, Open Doors Prompt Call to Cops

A roundup of the latest activity of the police blotter.

Mysterious voices and random doors left open are often cited as side effects of living in a haunted home β€” and this week's police reports raise a couple such suspicions.

At 1:17 a.m. Sunday, a 59-year-old Port Washington woman called police because she heard a man speaking in the locked upstairs bathroom of her home in the 400 block of Oakland Avenue.

No one was found in the home.

At 1:24 a.m. that same day, an 86-year-old Port Washington woman just less than a mile-and-a-half away reported that her front door was open. The woman also mentioned the door to her home in the 1400 block of West Second Avenue is hard to close at times and, after police checked, nothing was found out of order.

Come to your own conclusions.

More from the reports:

  • Maybe next time: It's like a scene in the movies, but this guy didn't get away. Police responded to a call at 10:55 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Stanford Street about a man attemping to enter vehicles in that neighborhood. Police figured out that a resident had escaped a nearby group home and tried to enter the vehicles. The police and caregiver helped the man back to his residence.
  • I want my favorite thing! Police didn't mentioned what the tantrum was about, but such a statement is likely not a far cry from this scene. Port police spoke to an 8-year-old boy at 12:44 p.m. Tuesday in his home in the 800 block of North Wisconsin Street. The boy was said to be out of control. He was throwing things and making threatening comments. Police were able to calm the boy down after talking to him.
