Port Police Report: Inanimate Object Lands in Backyard

A roundup of the latest activity from the police blotter.

It's unknown whether it was left there as a scare tactic, or if Oz finally granted it a brain and it walked away on it's own — but one thing is for sure: someone in Port Washington is missing a scarecrow.

Police responded to a call of the found property at 3:51 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Regatta Drive.

The scarecrow had been hanging out in the homeowner's backyard, and they had no idea how it got there.

  •  One way to settle an argument: Being in a relationship isn't all chocolate and roses, and sometimes it requires recruitment to do your dirty work. Police responded to a report at 4 p.m. Friday where the dog of a 29-year-old Port woman had bit her boyfriend. The woman was issued citations for no dog license and no required rabies vaccination. One question remains: did the boyfriend or girlfriend come out on top of this one?
  • Going somewhere? Well, not anytime soon. Police responded to a report at 4:25 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of South Spring Street where someone had slashed all four tires of a parked vehicle. There are no suspects.
