Port Police Report: Police Intervene in Bar Fight

A roundup of the latest activity from the police blotter also includes mischief at Possibility Playground and suspicious solicitors.

There's generally a lot of beer poured at Foxy's Tavern on a Friday night. But it's less common for it to be poured on someone's head.

At 9:43 p.m. Friday, police were called to Foxy's Tavern at 219 N. Franklin St. where an argument was getting out of hand between a man and a woman, both 21. The woman had reportedly poured a beer over the man.

The two then continued their argument outside, where the man reportedly slapped the woman before police showed up. They were both cited for disorderly conduct.

More from the reports:

  • Big kids on the playground: Of all the things to play with at Possibility Playground, soap dispensers are not at the top of the list for most people. But at 9:42 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a call from a woman who saw a group of teenage boys emptying soap dispensers in the playground bathroom in Upper Lake Park. Police arrived on the scene and found eight boys who matched the description. Only six admitted to the deed-- five 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old. The police warned the six for disorderly conduct and had them clean up the mess.
  • Knock knock. Who's there? A woman called police at 11:05 a.m. Friday to report "suspicious" solicitors on the 900 block of Grant Street. When police arrived, they spoke to the group. Turned out, they were parishioners from St. Matthew who said they were going door-to-door giving information about their religion and church. Police found nothing suspicious and only advised them of the complaint.
