Port Police Report: Vandal Knocks Over Head Stones in City Cemetery

A roundup of the latest activity from the police blotter also includes a cherry bomb in a mail box, an almost-fire at a nursing home and lots of barking dogs.

Respecting the dead was apparently not on somebody's to-do list recently in Port Washington.

At 10:20 a.m. Thursday, the caretaker for the cemetery at 549 N. Webster St. called police to alert about vandalism in the cemetery.

The caretaker told police that someone had tipped over four to five head stones, and that other head stones may be missing.
