Port Police Report: 3 Sent to Hospital After 2 Car Crashes on Friday

A 28-year-old Port woman went to the hospital Friday after her 2003 Dodge van rolled over and spun out at the intersection of South Heritage and Sunset roads.Β 

The driver had stopped at a stop sign but failed to yield the right-of-way to a vehicle crossing her path, according to the Port Washington police report. She was struck by the other vehicle, a 2011 Ford Escape, and was sent spinning until her car landed with the driver's side down. The incident occured at at 11:56 a.m.

An ambulance arrived, removed the 28-year-old from her car, and took her to the hospital.

Later that day, at about 7:14 p.m., there was another collision when a vehicle turned left in front of an oncoming car at North Wisconsin Street and Seven Hills Road. The left-turning vehicle was struck and spun into the traffic control light, bringing down the pole. Both drivers, a 26-year-old from Port and 39-year-old from Oostburg, left in an ambulance.

  • Last minute steal: A painting was reported as stolen Dec. 20 from Last Minute Gifts at 211 N. Franklin St. The canvas painting depicts Michael Jordan extending his arms with a basketball in each hand and is valued at $136.22.
  • Worst gift ever? A 50-year-old man from Port was asked to leave Dec. 21 after he kept trying to give gifts to younger female employees there. When he was reminded not to do so, he responded, "then throw it away," and swore. He had also been saying inapporpriate and profane things to the employees. He was told he is no longer welcome in the store and will be cited for trespassing if he returns.
  • Warrior son loses sword: A hiker found a silver Samurai sword in Birchwood Hills Nature Preserve on Dec. 21 and dropped it off at the Port Washington Police Department. The 18-inch blade has an engraving that reads, "KYLE My Warrior Son." The sword was stored in a nylon case with a leather strap.
  • Low-speed cow chase: Police responded to a report that a cow was loose at 9:28 p.m. Dec. 21 near North Wisconsin Street and Seven Hills Road. Port Washington police and Ozaukee County police followed the cow until they made contact with local farmers who could corral the animal.
  • It's the little things: A vehicle drove away from with a gas hose still attached, causing damage at 10:26 a.m. Saturday.
