Port Woman Dumps Yard Waste at South Beach, Police Say

The woman told she realized it was a stupid thing to do after a witness called about the illegal dumping.

In hindsight, this wasn't the smartest thing to do — and the perpetrator herself even realized it.

Police received a call at 2:05 p.m. June 11 about someone who had illegally dumped yard waste near the tree lines of the South Beach parking lot, according to police reports. The witness told officers the woman arrived with four kids in tow, and after dropping them at the beach she walked back to her vehicle.

At her vehicle, she popped the trunk and retrieved two bins full of yard debris, the report said. She then dumped them at the tree line.

Police located the woman on the beach, the report said. She told the officer
she "wasn't thinking and realized it a stupid thing to do."

She apologized profusely, the report said. The officer told her to have the debris picked up by the following day, or a citation would be issued.

The woman said she needed to go home to get gloves, but would be back to retrieve the debris, which the officer later noted as being pieces of a rose bush.

That's a thorn in your side.
