Updated: 22-Year-Old Remains in Hospital After Crash

A medical condition contributed to the crash on Monday afternoon, officials say.

Updated at 2:58 p.m. Friday:

A 22-year-old Port Washington woman remains hospitalized after a rollover crash on Monday afternoon, and law enforcement officials now say a medical condition contributed to the crash.
Emily Demge remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries as of Friday afternoon, according to Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office Lt. Christy Knowles.

Demge was involved in a rollover crash on County Highway KK that officials initially said occurred when she lost control while navigating a turn, but Knowles said after speaking to witnesses that does not make sense.
Officials may have initially believed Demge had trouble around a corner because of the many curves in the road, Knowles said; however, Demge's vehicle actually shifted from the right lane, crossing the centerline and flying off the left lane before ending in a field and hitting a tree.
Original story:

A 22-year-old town of Port Washington woman was taken to the hospital after a rollover crash Monday afternoon.

Emily Demge was driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am at 3:38 p.m. Monday on County Highway KK when she lost control while navigating a turn, according to a release from Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office. The car flew off Hwy. KK about a half-mile north of the intersection with Willow Road, entering a field and hitting a tree.

Flight for Life responded and transported Demge to Froedtert Hospital, the release said. The extent of her injuries is unknown.

Law enforcement officials are still investigating the incident, and, the release said, it is not believed alcohol or drugs were a factor.
