Saukville Man Accused of Assaulting Disabled Girl in New Berlin

A 38-year-old Saukville man is facing charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl inside a New Berlin home.

Melvin K. Malchow Jr. was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Thursday with one count of third-degree sexual assault. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

Malchow was in a home on May 26 in New Berlin where he allegedly began to touch the victim’s genitals while they were sharing a bed. The girl told police that she and the defendant had been drinking alcohol in the kitchen prior to the incident and “her body was scared” during the assault, so she pretended to be asleep until he stopped.

The next day Malchow got up to go fishing in Port Washington for the day and the victim went to her church where she informed a pastor about the assault.

The victim’s mother told police her daughter suffers from cognitive disabilities. During the investigation, another girl came forward and said she had also been inapropriatly touched by Malchow about 25 years ago when she was 8 years old.

Malchow will make his initial appearance in court Aug. 6.
