A Saukville teenager is accused of bringing marijuana and cigarettes to school after smoking drugs with a friend before going to class.
Douglas M. Yanko, 17, was charged in Ozaukee County Circuit Court on Tuesday with one count of possession of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. If convicted, he faces up to six months in jail and $1,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
On Monday, administrators at Port Washington High School were tipped off that Yanko and two other students were smoking drugs. The three were rounded up and taken to the office and Port Washington police officers were called to the school.
Yanko said he had marijuana and cigarettes with him, then gave the contraband to authorities. He said he went to a 14-year-old friend's house before school where they smoked marijuana, then gave the youth some of the drug in exchange for cigarettes.
Yanko is free on a $250 signature bond while awaiting trial.
