Port Washington man allegedly set up a second phone account so he could try to earn points on a website — but he didn't tell the probation department, violating the rules of the registry.
A 34-year-old Port Washington sex offender is facing charges after he allegedly accessed the internet using a phone account he had set up under his girlfriend’s name.

In October, police discovered Gierach had made a Facebook account that the Department of Corrections Probation and Parole office was unaware of — a violation because of Gierach's status on the registry. After investigating phone calls between him and his girlfriend, police also discovered he had a secret second phone account, which was registered to his girlfriend but used by him to access the Internet.
Gierach said he set up the accounts to try to earn points through the website prankdial.com.
