Special Meeting to Discuss Police Chief's Replacement Process

Port Washington Police and Fire Commission is meeting Monday to discuss the qualifications, time line and more for finding a new chief.

With Port Washington Police Chief Richard Thomas' retirement less than six months away, the Police and Fire Commission are busy sorting out the details for the hiring process for a new chief.

The commission will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, in the conference room at the Port Washington Police Department.

Public comments are welcome, and the meeting will focus on "discussion and possible action on police chief selection
process ... to include timing, qualifications, procedures,
objectives and selection process," according to the meeting posting.
