Thefts from Unlocked Vehicles Continue

Several vehicles were entered, with some items stolen.

Police received calls about five more attempts to steal from vehicles late last week.

The calls all came on Sept. 4, with two incidents resulting in thefts:

  • 7:13 a.m.: A 46-year-old Port man called because his unlocked vehicle had been entered sometime overnight in the 1500 block of Scott Road.  Nothing was taken as the man had removed everything from his vehicle because he was aware of previous break-ins.
  • 10:05 a.m.: A 27-year-old Port woman reported that someone had entered her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight while parked in the 400 block of Barry Avenue. Only loose change was stolen.
  • 3:21 p.m.: A 49-year-old Port man advised that his unlocked vehicle had been entered sometime overnight while parked in the 1400 block of North Benjamin Street, but nothing was taken. His 21-year-old son said loose change was taken from his vehicle, but he was unsure if the vehicle was locked.
  • 5:42 p.m.: A 28-year-old Port woman advised that her unlocked vehicle, as well as her father’s, had been entered sometime overnight while parked on the roadway in Viola Circle. Nothing was taken.
  • 9:21 p.m.: A 42-year-old Port woman reported her wallet taken from her unlocked vehicle while parked in the 1500 block of North Holden Street.
