The fire was contained to a storage unit in the basement of the building, and the sprinklers set off with the alarm were enough to put the fire out.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department as well as the Port Washington Police Department investigated the matter. It is recommended that the District Attorney's office charge the woman for negligent handling of burning materials; the woman's name will not be released until after formal charges have been made.
