Bitter Cold Changes to Snow Friday

About a half-foot of snow is expected Friday, but temperatures will rise through the weekend from Thursday's deep freeze.

The lucky streak is over: with bitterly cold temperatures lingering outside and plenty of snow on its way — the mild winter seems as if its gone for good.

Wind chills this morning were between 10 and 15 below zero, according to the National Weather Service, with winds between 10 and 20 mph and some gusts up to 30. Temps will reach a high of 7 on Thursday, and the night's low settles in right around 1 below.

Drivers should start preparing their vehicles for a snow storm on Friday that could drop as much as 5 to 7 inches of snow, and be especially messy during the evening commute.
