Candidate for 60th District Melotik Backs Walker's Budget, Job Plan

Republican Paul Melotik is one of nine candidates vying for the position; says he is not in support of dumping recycling mandate.

While 60th Assembly District candidate Paul Melotik sees some good coming from the changes in Madison, he doesn't support everything that Gov. Scott Walker is trying to do.

"I support Gov. Walkers' budget repair bill," Melotik said. "I do not support the changes to recycling that was included in the bill."

Melotik is one of nine candidates vying for the 60th District position, and one of seven Republicans. The primary election for the spot is Tuesday; the top Republican and top Democrat candidate will move on to a general election on May 3. The 60th Assembly District seat has been empty to become transportation secretary for Gov. Scott Walker.

Melotik said one of his main goals upon entering office is to focus on job creation in the area, another thing he finds to be a positive effect of Walker's plans.

"I am excited about the pro-business stance in Madison and Gov. Walkers' goal to help create 250,000 new jobs during his term," he said.

Beyond creating jobs in the private sector, Melotik said he plans to work "to fix the budget to reduce wasteful spending and eliminate our state's structural deficit."
