Fallen Tree Caused Second Power Outage Saturday

We Energies has located and replaced the faulty cable responsible for the first outage early Saturday evening.

Two separate problems — a faulty cable and a fallen tree — caused more than three hours of power outages in Port Washington on Saturday.

We Energies officials have since that caused the first two-and-a-half hour power outage that started just before 7 p.m. Saturday, according to Brian Manthey, a communications specialist for We Energies. That outage affected 2,600 customers with at least momentary power losses.

Then, at about 11:30 p.m., another power outage again affected about 1,200 customers in Port Washington. The outage was caused by a willow tree that fell, also temporarily closing part of the Ozaukee Interurban Bike Trail, Manthey said.
