Former Assembly Candidate to Run for Port Mayor

Perry Duman now joins Ald. Jim Vollmar in the race to become Port Washington's next city leader.

Port resident Perry Duman — who also — will to become the next Port Washington mayor.

Duman has taken out the nomination papers to become mayor, according to Port Washington Deputy Clerk Susan Westerbecke; he did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

After nine years in office, Mayor Scott Huebner decided it's time to pass the baton to a new city leader in the coming election season.

"Basically, it came down to my political beliefs that people shouldn’t be in political office forever," Huebner said. Huebner is also helping raise four boys, two teenagers and two younger boys also quickly closing in on that age — something that will require more of his time.

The mayor earns $7,500 and serves a three-year term.

Nomination forms are due by Jan. 3. The election, which is April 3, for the Port Washington Common Council, Saukville Village Board and the Port Washington-Saukville School Board.
