Forum to Focus on 60th Assembly District Candidates

Candidates face primary election on April 5.

Candidates for the 60th Assembly District position will get the chance to speak out during a Friday Forum Series, which will explore issues in Ozaukee County and give candidates a chance to explain their vision for the district after taking hold of the spot.

The Friday Forum Series is hosted by the Milwaukee Area Technical College-Mequon Campus, the Ozaukee County Board and the University of Wisconsin-Extension, and is held in the MATC lecture hall, 5555 W. Highland Rd.

Candidates vying for the position include: Republicans Tim Schwister, Paul Melotik, Rik Kluessendorf, Jake Curtis, John Soper, Duey Stroebel and Gary Wickert; and Democrats Rick Aaron and Perry Duman. The candidates face a primary election on April 5, and the winning candidates will then move forward to the on May 3.

The 60th Assembly District seat has been empty to become transportation secretary for Gov. Scott Walker.

The forum runs from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. April 1. Registration is required by March 31 by contacting Sandra Webster at 262-238-2205 or e-mailing websters@matc.edu. The event is free, but there is a $5 charge for refreshments payable at the door.
