In-Person Absentee Voting Ends Friday

Voting in person at your municipal clerk's office ends at 5 p.m. Friday. Absentee ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by Election Day Tuesday and received by the clerk's office by June 8.

The end of the day Friday is the last chance to vote absentee for Tuesday's historic gubernatorial recall election.

  • You must be registered as a voter; if not, you will need to register first.
  • A word of caution: absentee ballots will be entered into voting machines on Election Day just like votes cast in person at the polling sites. If the machines reject an absentee ballot because it was completed erroneously, that ballot will not be counted and there is not the opportunity to get a new ballot to try again.

, Port and Saukville both reported seeing unusually high numbers of absentee voting.

Port Washington Deputy Clerk Susan Westerbeke said the city had mailed about 470 absentee ballots in the recall election so far. Most of those have already been returned, she said, with the majority of the ballots being cast in person at — rather than being sent back via mail.

A total of 203 absentee voters cast ballots in the recall primary.

In Saukville, Village Official Mary Baumann said 148 absentee ballots were requested — a number that is more than the typical election — and 42 of those have not yet been returned.
