Milwaukee River Floods, Causing Road Closure

One road in Saukville is closed, with the river flowing over a good portion of the street while the area now moves into a flood warning.

Updated 4:46 p.m. Thursday: One road is closed in Saukville and the area is now in a flood warning as soggy weather continues on Thursday.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning on Thursday morning for the Milwaukee River in Saukville as the stage moved to 13.3 feet; 13.5 feet is flood stage, according to the service. An updated alert at 4 p.m. noted that it had climbed to 13.4 feet.

The entire southeastern Wisconsin area has been under a flood watch since Tuesday.

North Riverside Drive just north of the intersection with Green Bay Road is now closed, with a "high water" sign marking the closure. The Saukville Police Department told Patch that as of 1 p.m. Thursday this closure was the only area of concern in the village.

In Port Washington, the police department's Facebook page reported on Wednesday that "Sunset Road at the train trestle (just east of Spring Street)" was closed, however the department told Patch on Thursday that it is now open.
