North Beach Closed Due to High E. Coli Levels

High amounts of rain contributed to an increase in bacteria in the lake, causing closures along Lake Michigan.

Upper Lake Park Beach, commonly referred to as North Beach, in Port Washington is closed due to high E. coli levels.

Staff at the Ozaukee County Health Department said high levels of rain contributed to the increase in bacteria levels. The department tests levels on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays every week and posts the results on Twitter under the handle @OzaukeeBeach.

The department does not specifically test the levels at South Beach.

North Beach is one of many Lake Michigan beaches in Ozaukee, Milwaukee and Racine counties that have been closed due to high E. coli levels. Check Wisconsin Beach Health's website for updates.
