North Beach Pathway in Line for Makeover

North Beach access improvements continue, after the Board of Public Works last week supported a plan to replace the chain-link fence near the wastewater treatment plant with a more decorative version.

According to the Ozaukee Press, the fence on the south and west sides of the treatment plant will be torn down in favor of a more aesthetic barrier between a paved walking ptch and the treatment plant. Light poles along the east pathway, which create obstacles for strollers and wheelchairs, will be moved inside the fence next year.

Estimated cost on the work is $75,000, and will come from the city’s surplus, according to the article.

Earlier this year, the city spent $500 for curb-like edging along a sandy path toward North Beach, directing runoff from the bluff away from the path to prevent sloppy passage to the beach.
