North Lake Street Project Set to Meet Deadline

Port Washington City Engineer Rob Vanden Noven said workers "should have no problem" finishing the project by its Nov. 18 deadline.

Despite losing a few days of project work due to weather last week, Port Washington City Engineer Rob Vanden Noven said construction to a portion of Lake Street is on schedule to meet its deadline.

Workers will complete the curb next week and pavement by the end of the first week of November, and "should have no problem meeting the Nov. 18 deadline," Vanden Noven said.

The , while also maintaining the amount of parking that is currently available, Vanden Noven said. Plus, it offers a new route for water drainage in order to avoid flooding β€” such as what happened in 2008, when the creek behind the lot overflowed, sending water into a nearby underground garage and flooding a number of vehicles to the point of a total loss.
