Snowmobile Club Contributes to Water Rescue Kits
Village board sets "Poppy Day" May 6, to honor war veterans.
Saukville’s snowmobile club, the Sno-Seekers, donated $170 to help equip each village police squad with rescue equipment for victims who fall into the swfit waters of the Milwaukee River.
Club members presented Police Chief Bill Meloy and Lt. Jeffrey Goetz with a check to purchase the water rescue equipment at Tuesday's village board meeting.
The kits consist of a long rope with a flotation device secured to the end. Goetz explained that this could easily be thrown to an individual who had slipped into the water providing him or her with something to hold onto while they are pulled to safety.
