Supreme Court Candidates on Tuesday's Ballot

Primary elections to take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Port Washington and Saukville voters will head to the polls Tuesday to narrow down the field of candidates running for state Supreme Court.

In the race for the high court, three candidates are challenging incumbent Justice David T. Prosser Jr., who has served on the court for 12 years. The challengers are: JoAnne F. Kloppenburg, who has been a litigator and prosecutor at Wisconsin’s Department of Justice since 1989; Joel Winnig, an attorney for more than 30 years; and Maria Stephens, the Appellate Division director for the State Public Defender's office.

The top two vote-getters will advance to the April 5 general election. There are no local school or municipal primary races on Tuesday.

If you haven't registered to vote yet, you can do so at the polls on Tuesday as long as you have proof of residence, which can include a driver's license or state identification card, a utility bill, property tax bills, leases and other documents. For more information on registering at the polls, visit the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board website.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Here are the polling places in Port Washington:

  • Wards one and 11: Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 1403 N Holden St.
  • Wards six, seven and eight: , 1243 W Lincoln Ave.
  • Wards two, three, four, five, nine and 10: , 100 W Grand Ave.

Saukville consists of eight wards, and all voting for those areas takes place at the American Legion, 601 W. Dekora St.
