Week Ahead: Iron in Water, Food Drive at Your Door and More

A look ahead to what you need to know in Port Washington and Saukville this week.

Here are some highlights of the upcoming week in Port Washington and Saukville. There are just the essentials; Port Washington-Saukville Patch has its own events calendar and you are invited to enter your own events.

Discolored Water in Saukville

The Saukville Water Department will be flushing hydrants in the village from Monday through Oct. 21 between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. This could cause more iron to come through with water in home faucets. Village officials said not to be concerned about the discoloration, but to avoid doing laundry while the water is discolored. Running the tap after the flushing will clear out the discolored water.

School Board Meeting

The Port Washington-Saukville School Board will have its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Board Room of the at 100 W. Monroe St. Download the agenda here.

Port Washington Police and Fire Commission

The Police and Fire Commission will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Conference Room of the at 365 N. Wisconsin St. Members will discuss the of Sept. 26, and review a letter to the city recommending a flashing stop sign on South Heritage Road and Highway LL. Download the agenda here.

Mini-Mite Hockey Registration

Kids ages 3 to third grade can sign up for Mini-Mite Hockey at www.ozaukeehockey.com starting Monday. Registration closes on Saturday. No previous hockey or skating experience is required. The season runs October through March, with practice and games on Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Ozaukee Ice Center.

Scouting for Food

Boy Scouts will be collecting food for the Ozaukee County Food Pantry this month. Cub Scouts plan to drop off bags at every home in Port Washington and Saukville on Saturday. The following Saturday, Oct. 22, Boy Scouts will pick up filled bags off of porches and deliver them to the food pantry for sorting and distribution. The scouts are looking for unopened, nonperishable food items that are within their expiration date.

Pirate Time

On Tuesday, the girls volleyball teams will play at Grafton High School and girls swim has a meet at Cedarburg High School.

The PWHS football team will play at Grafton Friday, after a homecoming defeat by Cedarburg last week.

On Saturday, cross country teams have their conference meet at Tendick Park in Saukville.
