Elementary School Principal Vying for High School Job

Lincoln Elementary School Principal Eric Burke applies for position opening this summer.

Lincoln Elementary School Principal Eric Burke is the only internal candidate to apply for the opening Port High principal spot, according to Port Washington-Saukville School District Superintendent Michael Weber.

The interview committee is in the process of establishing a date when they can all meet with Burke for the interview, Weber said.

The committee may decide to recommend Burke to the board without seeking external candidates, but will also have the option to open the position to the public after the interview, Weber said.

When asked why he was applying for the high school job, Burke said he would prefer to wait to comment until after the interview process.

Burke had spent several years teaching in the Port Washington-Saukville district before spending a year teaching in the Milwaukee County suburb of Franklin. He then returned to the area as the assistant principal and athletic director for Port High School for three years, before moving to Lincoln Elementary, where he has been principal for three years.
