Homework Help Sought at Middle School

Thomas Jefferson Middle School seeking volunteers to help during Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon Homework Club.

On the surface, it may not seem like a big deal, but Principal Arlan Galarowicz says can leave a big footprint.

"Here's an opportunity for someone to make a difference in the life of a kid," he said.

The school holds Homework Clubs for kids who want to get their work done before leaving school, or may just want extra help — something that for some kids makes a big difference, Galarowicz said, citing one student he recalled making particular gains.

"(The student's) whole world changed because he didn't have to try to do it by himself," he said.

The club meets from 2:35 to 4:20 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, but Galarowicz said they will take help for whichever amount of those hours and days a person is available.
