Port High Seniors Say Goodbye Sunday

Graduation season is upon us, and Port Washington High School is holding its ceremony on Sunday.

The Port Washinton High School class of 2011 will show off their cap and gowns on Sunday as students get ready to collect their diplomas.

The high school is hosting the graduation ceremony at Al Urness Field (the high school's football field), but the event will move to the high school gym in case of rain, Principal Duane Woelfel said. The National Weather Service currently predicts a high of 64 and sunny on Sunday.

The valedictorian and salutorian are announced at graduation because the school must wait until finals are complete for that to be decided, Woelfel said. The student who is on track to be valedictorian after seven semesters typically gives the graduation speech, he said, but that student does not always end up being the valedictorian.

This year, Soibhan Kelley will be giving the commencement address speech.

The class of 2011 has chosen the white rose as its class flower, and "Livin the Dream" by Uncle Kracker as its class song.

The students of the class leave the school with this motto: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel," a quote from  Maya Angelou.
