The average score among the 171 students taking the ACT test in the 2011-12 school year is nearly 2 points higher than the statewide average.
Students in Port Washington and Saukville scored an average of 23.8 on the test, according to data released by the Department of Public Instruction on Wednesday. Statewide, the average score is 22.1.
"Wisconsin students remain among the tops in the nation on the ACT college admissions test, tying with Iowa for the No. 2 spot with 71 percent of the state’s 2012 graduates taking the exam," a press release from the DPI said.
According to DPI data, 74 percent of Port High students participated in the test, similar to the 74.3 percent that participated in the 2010-11 school year, but up from 67.6 percent in 2009-10.
