One Book One Community Presents: Eric Larsen

MT. EVEREST, THE NORTH POLE AND SOUTH POLE represent the harshest and most extreme environments on the planet. Yet as inhospitable as these places are to humans,

they are also the areas most affected by people. On October 15th, 2010, polar adventurer and expedition guide Eric Larsen, originally from Cedarburg, WI, stood on the summit of Mt. Everest. In doing so, he became the first person in history to reach the South Pole, North Pole and summit of Mt. Everest in a 365-day period.

Hear this incredible first hand account in an hour-long presentation that unveils the beauty and vastness of these remote landscapes - areas few people have ever seen - how they are changing, and ultimately, what we can do to protect them. Through breathtaking images, engaging story telling and captivating video, Eric describes the triumphs and tribulations, of planning, executing and completing three major expeditions to world's three 'poles'. Eric will also talk about how important understanding the 'science of climate' and the individual and combined efforts are needed to save these fragile environments.
