Meins Does Not Disappoint in 3rd Place Finish
Port Washington senior gets on the medal stand in the 125-pound weight class at the WIAA State Wrestling Championships.
Port Washington senior Justin Meins scored an impressive 4-2 decision against Muskego’s Justin Scherkenbach to secure third place in the 125-pound class at the WIAA Wrestling Championships in Madison.
Port head coach Angelo LaRosa said Meins is the type of guy who can go for three periods, and sometimes more.
“He’s so strong and his gas tank is always full. He can go-go-go,” LaRosa said.

The way the tournmanet is set up, in third-place matches the first period is only one minute long so that had an effect on the strategy going into the match.
“Other kids get tired, but Justin can really tire another wrestler out,” LaRosa said.

LaRosa said he wanted Meins to just keep attacking throughout the match, to stay in Scherkenbach’s face.
