Photo Gallery: Cross Country Invitational in Saukville

Brookfield East and Slinger took the varsity races, while many runners rested up for conference meets next week.

Sixteen girls teams and 14 boys teams participated Thursday in the 32nd Port Washington Invitational cross country meet at Tendick Park in Saukville.

Brookfield East was the boys champion with 39 points, led by individual overall winner Brad Johnson in 16:29. Port Washington was second with 93 points and Menomonee Falls was 11th.

On the girls side, Slinger was the varsity winner with 81 points. Menomonee Falls was sixth, Port Washington eighth and Whitefish Bay 12th.

Teams are looking ahead to their conference championships a week from Saturday.
